Our 50 full-time, multi-disciplined engineers determine the root cause of failures, the extent of the damage, and the responsible parties (manufacturer, operator, etc.) in industrial accidents, complex failures, fires catastrophic explosions, and product liability cases. We carefully manage these precarious assignments with the understanding of their potential to develop into litigation cases. Failure Analysis/Forensic Engineering
Thielsch Engineering has a multi-disciplined team of knowledgeable forensic engineers who are experienced in performing on-site investigations into the root cause of failures as well as any possible contributing factors to industrial accidents, complex failures and catastrophic explosions. The failure modes we investigate often include fatigue, fracture, creep, corrosion, erosion, low-quality welds, wear, improper material selection, poor design or improper maintenance.
Examples previous investigations we have performed include all components from the power generation industry, rotary components, storage tanks, pipelines, boilers, pressure vessels, storage tanks, bridges, automobiles, medical implants and structural members.
With over 50 engineers specializing in mechanical, metallurgical, chemical, electrical and civil engineering, we are capable of handling the most complicated and multi-disciplined failure and forensic projects. Our Professional Engineers (P.E.) and PhDs perform a complete analysis of a failure condition and support the definitive conclusion in a clear manner.
Detailed metallurgical evaluations are performed at our in-house laboratory by Thielsch Engineering scientists and technical support staff. Our laboratories utilize the latest equipment, including Scanning Electron Microscopes.
Thielsch Engineering personnel have issued over 12,000 reports containing defendable answers to technical questions and we regularly help clients make informed decisions regarding policy, repairs and litigation.
