Fitness-for Service

Fitness-for-Service:

Thielsch Engineering conducts fitness-for-service assessments of storage tanks, pressure vessels, piping systems, rotating equipment, relief devices, valves, alarms, trips and interlocks. Our engineers and technicians can provide complete fitness for service, mechanical integrity and remaining-life analyses, including field inspections and data collection, laboratory mechanical and chemical testing and cost-effective engineering solutions.

Fitness-for-Service assessments are quantitative engineering evaluations which are performed to demonstrate the structural integrity of systems or an in-service component containing a flaw or damage. The assessments are useful economic and safety benefits for companies which help ensure the safety of plant personnel and the public as older equipment continues to operate. The evaluations also help plant managers to optimize maintenance and operation of existing facilities and enhance long-term viability.

Thielsch Engineering provides evaluation and re-rating of pressure vessels designed and constructed to the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, piping systems designed and constructed to the ASME B31.3 Piping Code and aboveground storage tanks designed and constructed to API 650 and API 620.

Our “R” Stamp program for plants includes our own welding technicians who can perform any “R” stamp work. “R” Stamp repairs are staffed with a qualified engineer who is a decision maker.
