Risk-Based Inspection OSHA Standard 1910.119 "Process Safety Management of Highly Hazardous Chemicals" established requirements for the management of hazardous chemicals in processing and storage facilities. Paragraph (j), Mechanical Integrity, states that: "Inspections and tests shall be performed on process equipment and inspection and testing procedures and the frequency of inspections shall follow generally accepted good engineering practices." Risk-based inspection has become the preferred tool by which "good engineering practice" is measured as it reduces the potential for catastrophic equipment failure and provides the ability to efficiently allocate limited inspection budgets and personnel.

Thielsch Engineering can provide cost-effective, risk-based inspection and risk-directed mechanical integrity services. Our complete RBI solutions include risk analysis, program development and implementation, equipment ranking and training. We employ the API 581 methodology to risk-based inspection, thereby offering a standardized and accepted procedure for affecting a risk-management program.
