Chemical Engineering has provided a wide range of services to plant owners and
prospective plant owners. Our services have included all phases of project
development from inception through operation including: preparation of
feasibility studies, preparation of the invitations to bid, review of bids and
contractor selection, and operational advisory services.
Feasibility Studies - JCE personnel have participated in numerous technical and economic feasibility studies for a number of nitrogen fertilizer and other chemical plants. Engineers assigned to a feasibility study bring an average twenty years of experience to the problem. JCE has developed a unique analytical approach to complex multi-product manufacture, storage, shipping and marketing problems. The approach is a well-reasoned exploration of all aspects which should be considered, and follows guidelines which have proven successful for our clients. Its foundation is "profit center analysis", which can highlight the best route to take when many alternate costs, products and processes are involved. Invitation to Bid Preparation and Bid Review - JCE has assisted over a dozen clients with the preparation of ITBs and the review of the bids for worldscale chemical plants. Our approach is one of combining our know-how and experience with the unique requirements and expectations of each individual client to deliver a clear, concise ITB to the potential contractors. At the same time, criteria are developed for review of the bids. Once the bids are received, work in conjunction with both the owner and the contractors to resolve any technical issues and assure that the terms of the ITB are met. Finally the bids are analyzed based on the criteria developed and a recommendation presented to the owner. Operating Assistance - Converting a well designed, engineered and constructed process plant into a viable commercial operation is a formidable task for countries and/or companies which have had only limited opportunities to develop the many types of expertise and experience required.
